Vilano Electric Bikes motors are "governed" to achieve only 20MPH or under.

Please understand there are federal regulations in place that are meant to differentiate electric bikes from other vehicles on the road. The three primary criteria that differentiate electric bikes from other motor vehicles are as follows:

  1. They must have fully operational pedals.

  2. Be equipped with 750 watts or less motors

  3. The maximum speed that can be attained, with motor help, is 20mph.

Of course you can go faster than 20mph, but NOT when the motor is assisting you. Cruising downhill, for example, you may be able to go faster than 20mph, however you will not be able to get help from the motor to do so.
