Cycling shoes like Gavin's are meant to be stiff, snug, and offer good support. Cycling shoes are designed to work with clipless pedal systems. These systems temporarily connect the shoe to the pedal (much like a ski binding system) for increased efficiency of power-transfer. They use a cleat on the bottom of each shoe and a matched fitting on the pedal. Cleats and pedals can be purchased separately from shoes.
Cycling shoes come in numerous variants: road racing, casual cycling, off-road or mountain biking (MTB), and indoor cycling or spinning. Though many cycling shoe suppliers will have a conversion to American, English, French or other countries' sizing, most cycling shoes, including Gavin brand, are manufactured in European sizing.
If you are unsure which shoe size would be a good fit for you, the best thing to do is to be measured at a local bike shop or shoe store. This will give you the exact size you need. The next best thing to do is lift your shoe tongue and look for the corresponding EU size with your US size. If you are deciding between sizes, we would suggest ordering the next size up, as you can always wear thicker socks.
Gavin cycling shoes run true to EU sizes, however please know that converting between US and EU sizes is not exact size for size match. A US size can fall between two EU sizes. Here is the Gavin shoes size chart:
